Shiwan Ibrahim, MA, RP,
Registered Psychotherapist

Hello, my name is Shiwan Ibrahim, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). My path into therapy was shaped by a deep commitment to supporting those in vulnerable circumstances, especially immigrants and refugees. These formative experiences strengthened my trauma-informed lens and deepened my dedication to helping individuals navigate complex mental health challenges.

In my practice, I focus on cultivating a safe, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel genuinely heard and valued. I believe meaningful healing grows from a therapeutic relationship grounded in empathy and respect. I invite clients to take an active role in guiding our work together, ensuring their lived experiences and personal goals remain at the center of the process.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed care, grief-informed therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Gottman-informed therapy. I thoughtfully adapt each framework to align with the unique goals, challenges, and strengths of every client, creating a personalized and comprehensive therapeutic experience.

In addition to individual counselling, I am committed to supporting clients across a range of areas, including:

Family Therapy:
I support families in strengthening communication, addressing conflict constructively, and nurturing healthier, more connected relationships. Together, we work toward creating a balanced and supportive family dynamic where each member feels heard, respected, and appreciated.

Marriage and Couples Counselling:
Drawing on Gottman-informed methods and other evidence-based approaches, I support couples in working through conflict, improving communication, and deepening emotional intimacy. My goal is to help partners strengthen their bond and cultivate a resilient, meaningful, and lasting relationship.

Child and Adolescent Therapy:
I create a supportive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate space where children and adolescents feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and emotions. My approach is attuned to their unique stage of growth, helping them navigate challenges with confidence. Through compassionate guidance, I equip young clients with practical tools and emotional skills that foster resilience and healthy development.

Men’s Mental Health:
I am deeply committed to supporting men in navigating their unique mental health challenges. Whether managing stress, anxiety, depression, or struggles with emotional expression, I provide a safe and nonjudgmental space where men can openly explore their concerns and work toward meaningful growth without stigma.

Trauma and Grief Counselling:
I provide compassionate support for individuals processing trauma and grief, helping them navigate difficult emotions and experiences. My approach is gentle, empathetic, and focused on fostering healing, resilience, and personal growth.

I am passionate about walking alongside clients throughout their therapeutic journey, offering guidance and support as they face life’s challenges and work toward greater well-being. Together, we create a safe and empowering space to explore your goals, develop coping strategies, and find a renewed sense of peace.

Committed to ongoing professional development, I strive to provide the highest standard of care. Your well-being is my priority, and I am here to support you every step of the way.
